Savora POS is software that restaurants use to take orders, run their kitchen and bill their guests. This page explains what information it handles, why, and what you can ask us to do about it. If anything here is unclear, write to us at savorapos@yahoo.com.
Who is responsible for what
- Information a restaurant collects about its guests and its business, such as orders, guests' names and phone numbers, menus and bills. The restaurant decides what it collects and why. We store and process it for the restaurant, only to provide Savora POS to it.
- Information about restaurants and their staff accounts, and visits to this website. We are responsible for this.
What we collect
Guests who order by scanning a table's QR code
- Your name and phone number, so the restaurant can reach you about your order.
- What you ordered, and any notes for the kitchen.
- Guests don't create an account or set a password.
Restaurant staff
- Name, email address, phone number if given, and role: owner, manager, cashier, kitchen or waiter.
- Passwords are handled by our sign-in provider and stored only in a scrambled (hashed) form. Nobody at Savora POS can read them.
- Entries in the restaurant's activity log, such as who changed a price, a staff member's role or the stock, or who cancelled a bill.
Restaurant records
- Menus, prices and dish photos; tables and QR codes; orders, bills, payments recorded at the counter and refunds; stock, suppliers and purchase orders; and the restaurant's colours and logo.
Technical information
- Our hosting providers keep standard server logs, including IP address, browser type, the page requested and the time. They are used to keep the service secure and to fix problems.
What we don't do
- We don't sell or rent personal information.
- We don't show advertising, and we don't use analytics or advertising trackers.
- We don't take card details. Guests pay the restaurant directly, and staff record how a bill was paid.
How the information is used
- To run the service: show the menu, send orders to the kitchen, and produce bills, receipts and reports.
- To let staff sign in, and to email them a link when they forget their password.
- To keep the service secure, stop misuse and fix problems.
- To help a restaurant when it asks us for support.
We don't use guests' contact details to market to them. Each restaurant decides how it uses its own guests' details, and is responsible for that.
Cookies and browser storage
- Staff sign-in uses cookies that keep you signed in. Savora POS can't work without them.
- The kitchen screen remembers whether “Read orders aloud” is switched on, in that device's browser storage.
- No tracking or advertising cookies are used, for guests, staff or visitors to this website.
Where it is stored, and who helps us
- Supabase provides the database, sign-in and file storage. The data is stored in Mumbai, India. Password-reset emails are sent through Supabase.
- Vercel hosts the application. It runs in Mumbai, India, and delivers pages through Vercel's worldwide network.
Who can see it
- The restaurant's own staff, according to their role.
- Our team, when it's needed to run, secure or support the service. When we open a restaurant's screens to help it, the visit is time-limited and recorded in that restaurant's own activity log.
- Authorities, where the law requires us to share it.
- Never another restaurant. Each restaurant's data is kept separate by rules in the database itself.
How long we keep it
- While a restaurant uses Savora POS, we keep its records so it has its order history, bills and reports.
- When a restaurant stops using Savora POS, we delete its information when it asks us to, except records the law requires us to keep.
Your choices and rights
You can ask what personal information is held about you, ask for it to be corrected or deleted, and complain if you're unhappy with how it has been handled.
- Guests: contact the restaurant where you ordered, as it decides about its guests' information. You can also write to us, and we'll help the restaurant act on your request.
- Staff: ask your restaurant's owner or manager, or write to us.
- Restaurants: write to us.
If you're not satisfied with our reply, you can complain to the Data Protection Board of India.
Security
- Every connection to Savora POS is encrypted (HTTPS).
- Each restaurant's data is kept separate by rules in the database, not only by the screens.
- Staff sign in with their own accounts, and each role sees only what it needs.
No system is perfectly secure. If we learn of a breach that affects your information, we'll tell the affected restaurants and, where the law requires it, the authorities and the people affected.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we'll update this page and the date at the top. If a change is significant, we'll tell the restaurants using Savora POS before it takes effect.
